vkhp-consulting were appointed to design the conversion of a large oak barn into residential, which included the installation of a mezzanine floor. The mezzanine floor required the cutting of a main structural oak tie, which required careful consideration of the framing of a new doorway through this tie to ensure structural integrity of the building.
