Special considerations have to be given to the repair or alteration of historic and listed buildings with an understanding of materials and the form of construction originally used. We have expertise in this field and regularly work in conjunction with Local authority conservation officers on older or period buildings to agree suitable forms of repair.

The refurbishment of newer buildings inevitably results in a more flexible approach, but the retained structure will need structural assessment and often strengthening and/or additional foundation works to meet the new design criteria.
